More about the project: PULS Vario Offices

Following continuous growth of the business, engineering firm PULS Vario is expanding its Vienna-based offices and have asked Evolution Design to develop a comprehensive workplace concept. By occupying an additional floor and increasing the total office area, a restructure of all workspaces, including the high-tech lab, the coffee hub, workshop areas and open plan workspaces was proposed.

Project background

PULS Vario is a subsidiary of the German engineering firm PULS and specialises in customised power supply solutions. In March 2018, we completed a 1000-square-meter workplace for PULS Vario that supported the company’s new organisational structure and specifically enabled the R&D team to focus on innovation.

Today, PULS Vario is rapidly growing its business and is expanding its workplace that will be able to accommodate up to 80 staff after the completion.

Connecting people

«We are building two internal staircases to create a seamless connection between both floors. One staircase will link the current reception with the lower level, whilst the other staircase will join the enlarged laboratory with the workspaces situated on the floor below,» explains project lead Claudia Berkefeld. She continues, «rather than duplicating the exciting functions, we are enlarging them. There will be a larger, modernised lab; also, the central coffee hub will be expanded, making it even more spacious and inviting. And we are also creating another focus work area that will resemble a traditional pergola overgrown by grape vines».

Much like the existing office, the new, enlarged workplace will feature bold colours and custom-designed wall graphics that feature the client's power units. «PULS Vario is one of those clients who is not afraid of colour. We are using colour-blocking in various meeting rooms to create a powerful aesthetic that adds vibrancy and personality to the space,» explains Claudia.

The project completion is planned for the late summer of 2023.
