Evolution Design appointed to create the interior design for Ferrum’s headquarters

Ferrum in Schafisheim

The Ferrum Group from Schafisheim, Canton of Aargau, is known as a can seamer. Since 1917, this family-ran engineering and manufacturing company has been producing machines that close cans quickly and easily. The company also manufactures centrifuges for the food and beverage industry.

Due to the constant growth and increasing production, Ferrum has decided to optimise its manufacturing operations by moving production and assembly to one location. «With the move of our production facility from Rupperswil to Schafisheim, Ferrum wants to strengthen its headquarters in Switzerland,» says Thomas Riedener, managing director of RS Properties, a subsidiary of the Ferrum Group. For this purpose, Ferrum has commissioned a new 10,000-square-meter building that will be connected to the existing manufacturing halls in the current assembly location in Schafisheim. The new build is designed by architecture office Atelier WW and Evolution Design has been tasked with creating the interior design.

The five-storey building will have five upper floors and a basement level. Two floors will be used for manufacturing and assembly and the remaining floors will be designated for workplaces, informal meeting zones, event spaces and a sophisticated reception on the ground floor.

«This project offers a great opportunity to design a bright and open head office that combines the requirements of people who work in the office with the needs of people who work in the production. We strive to create an environment that is inviting, comfortable and, most importantly, connecting people,» says Stefan Camenzind, partner and executive director of Evolution Design.

The construction will start in the summer 2023 and the new building should be completed in early 2025.
