Evolution Design receives the trophy of the Architecture & Design Collection Awards
Evolution Design has won the Platinum award in the ADC Awards for our interior design and learning concept for SQUARE, the learning centre of the University of St. Gallen. The project’s leading designer and associate Carolin Michalka proudly presents the highly-esteemed award trophy.
SQUARE was designed to enable innovation and dialogue and be a place of surprising encounters and mutual inspiration. In order to deliver such dynamic communication format, a dedicated team curates a programme of educational and cultural activities that change daily, ranging from events with the participation of external guests to workshops, masterclasses and courses, and students working in groups on their projects.
«This project demonstrates how architectural space, interior design and furniture create an atmosphere that people are naturally drawn to. SQUARE has become the centre of excellence not only for students and lecturers, but also for artists, academics, politicians, entrepreneurs, and the wider society,» says Carolin. «We were thrilled to be part of this project and to design a comprehensive learning and furniture concept that would satisfy the current and future uses of the space.»
Part of our interior concept was to also design a sophisticated cafeteria on the ground floor that doubles as the first meeting point and a reception and to foster group work and discussions by creating three special meeting rooms on the top floor.
«We are honoured about our concept’s continuous acknowledgement by the architecture and design jurors and also the exceptionally inspiring and dynamic use of space by students, lecturers, experts, and the society,» says Carolin.
Congratulations to the project’s core design team: Carolin Michalka, Jessica Mentz, Zhiyang Chiu, Patrik Uihlein, Dariusz Florczak, and Stuart Dickens!
