Completion of PULS Vario offices

Following continuous growth, engineering firm PULS Vario expanded its office space and asked Evolution Design to craft a dynamic and versatile work environment that fosters innovative thinking, enhances creativity, and improves productivity for the team of 60 engineers.

A key aspect of this project was to ensure seamless connectivity between both floors. «We introduced two internal staircases to facilitate easy access between the workspaces and various workshop zones, laboratories, prototyping areas, broadcast studio, and the coffee hub,» explains project director Claudia Berkefeld.

Equally important was the creation of spaces that encourage social interaction. PULS Vario prides itself on maintaining a transparent and flat hierarchy, fostering a familial atmosphere where colleagues gather for morning coffee, share meals, and unwind with an informal beer. The office serves as a central hub for nurturing meaningful connections and friendships among colleagues. To enhance this connectivity, we expanded the coffee hub, providing an even larger and more inviting setting for the team to gather and bond.

Integrating references to Austrian and Viennese culture was another integral aspect of the project. This was achieved through the application of a bold colour concept in the meeting rooms, drawing inspiration from distinctive local characteristics. For instance, deep blue reminiscent of the alpine flower gentian was used to evoke the serene ambiance of mountain landscapes, while poppy red was chosen to recall the poppy blossoms that blanket fields outside of Vienna; and the crawling vines on the pergola in the focus work area pay homage to Austrian winemaking tradition.

Thanks to a blend of soft textures, natural materials, ambient lighting, and comfortable furniture, this work environment feels more like home than a traditional office, while also incorporating innovative working methods and technology to achieve a truly hybrid workspace.
