Evolution Design attends the Venice Architecture Biennale
As the 60th edition of the Venice Art Biennale officially opened its doors on May 9th, Evolution Design had the privilege of taking part in the launch of this globally celebrated cultural event.
The 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale, running from May 10 to November 23, is curated by Carlo Ratti under the theme Intelligens: Natural. Artificial. Collective. This edition explores how architecture can navigate the intersections of natural ecosystems, artificial intelligence, and collective human creativity to address pressing global challenges such as climate change, urbanisation, and social equity.
Our creative director, Tanya Ruegg, joined the launch of the Swiss Pavilion, which was inaugurated by Swiss Interior Minister Elisabeth Baume-Schneider.
Curated by the Annexe collective – Elena Chiavi, Kathrin Füglister, Amy Perkins, Myriam Uzor – together with artist Axelle Stiefel, the pavilion offers a powerful reimagining of a 1958 temporary art hall originally designed by Swiss architect Lisbeth Sachs for the Swiss Exhibition for Women’s Work.
This thoughtful reconstruction within Bruno Giacometti’s pavilion creates a layered dialogue between past and present, architecture and gender, form and memory.
This year’s Biennale features over 750 contributors and 300 projects, making it the most inclusive edition to date. For the first time in its history, participants were also selected through an open call – emphasising accessibility, diversity, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Over the course of three inspiring days in Venice, our team explored a range of national pavilions, engaged with cutting-edge ideas from around the world, and took time to enjoy the rich cultural heritage and breathtaking cityscape of Venice.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Benjamin Koch, Pascal Koch, Andreas Haas, and Elio Volpe from Neuco for organizing such a rich and insightful journey.
