Stefan Camenzind
Partner | Executive Director
Stefan Camenzind is an architect and design strategist, the founding partner and executive director of Evolution Design. With his strong analytical ability and openness to new ideas, Stefan's career has been guided by an inquisitive approach to architecture and design.
This perspective was shaped during five years working alongside Nicholas Grimshaw in London and further developed through his experience at the Renzo Piano Building Workshop in Paris. In 1995, Stefan founded the studio in Zurich – then called Camenzind Evolution – with the aim of designing spaces that put people's needs first.
The studio has created award-winning workplaces for some of the world's leading organisations, including Google, Accenture, PwC, RTL, Unilever, and Barry Callebaut.
Stefan has always been a leading voice on the future of work. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he led research based on surveys with more than 6,000 participants across multiple industries, exploring what motivates people to engage with the workplace and how physical space can support collaboration and organisational culture.
That same user-focused thinking has extended into learning environments. A significant example of this is the studio's collaboration with FHNW, one of Switzerland's leading universities of applied sciences. The FHNW Campus Dreispitz in Basel translates contemporary learning philosophies into a space that explores new ways of teaching and learning, while looking ahead to future needs.
Stefan is a regular speaker at international conferences including Orgatec, and has appeared in the Netflix series The World's Most Extraordinary Homes.
